150–220 gsm (4.4–6.5 oz/yd²) · stretch needed

soft drapey knit that follows the body

A one-shoulder asymmetric top needs a stretch knit so the single shoulder and neckline stay snug and don't gape; a soft rayon or cotton jersey drapes cleanly over the bare shoulder and finishes neatly with a coverstitched or banded edge.

Avoid: Wovens with no stretch, Stiff ponte, Bulky sweatshirt fleece

Atelier notes

  • 01Pick your size; the draft already includes wearing ease.
  • 02Sew a quick calico toile first — these are statement shapes, so check the fit and drape before cutting your fabric.
  • 03Watch the grainline and stay-stitch any deep curves before they stretch.
